The North West Department of Sports, Art and Culture provide financial support to AFL South Africa to help develop the code in the North West Province. As the founding Province of the code in South Africa, the NW Department of Sport have been strong supporters of ‘the new game that roars’ providing opportunities for thousands of young South Africans particularly those from rural areas.

The aim of the North West Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is to ensure that sport and recreation opportunities are readily accessible to all communities and to promote special talent in the province.

The Department also aims to promote and create conditions for the development of a multi-cultural society and to ensure that previously marginalized cultures are given the status they deserve.
