VOLUNTEERS

The footyWILD Volunteer program seeks to develop social cohesion and provide capacity building opportunities for young South Africans via a structured “Pathway to Employment” and accredited training scheme. Volunteers who join AFL South Africa receive initial training as either a footyWILD coach, an umpire or as a Centre Manager receiving a regular volunteer stipend for their trouble. AFL South Africa seeks to promote volunteers through its Development network from the ‘ground up’ providing a clear and transparent pathway for young South Africans to enter a vibrant sporting code that is on the move. Other major incentives for footyWILD volunteers include numerous opportunities to travel, with events such as AFLSA’s Provincial and National Championships and the AFL International Cup uniting volunteers from all over South Africa and even the world. Moving forward, AFLSA’s footyWILD volunteers will also be provided with further training opportunities through accredited University courses, ensuring that all of our young people gain the skills required to make them even more ‘employable’.
