16 year old Keitumetse “Tumi” Mollele from Johannesburg is the inaugural recipient of the “Geminder footyWILD Futures Star Award” proudly supported by Ruffy Geminder, the South African Honorary Consul to Australia, based in Melbourne.

A confident young man, Tumi took it all in his stride when interviewed by AFL legend Kevin Sheedy, following the first AFL game at Sahara Park in Cape Town since 1998.

When asked by Sheedy what he liked most about Australian Football in front of the 150 plus crowd, who had gathered at the post-match function to celebrate the AIS / AFL Academy’s fourth tour of South Africa, Tumi replied,

“I really like that you can use your hands and feet and also the physical contact involved in AFL.”
 
“And what do you know about Australia”? asked Sheeds

“Only what I’ve seen on TV which isn’t a lot, so I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can, said Tumi

Tumi will be heading to Australia for a short stay with a host family, so that he can learn more about the game and also more about Australia.

Senior Advisor to the Honorary Consul, Jen Harbottle was in Cape Town for the event and was thrilled to meet Tumi in person.
