PURPLE ARMY TO NORTH WEST
“The relationship we have with Fremantle is unique and the level of commitment shown by the club and its major partner NKWE Platinum has been outstanding. It was certainly no surprise to hear that Fremantle have once again committed to coming to the North West Province" Said July Machethe North West Provincial Development Manager
Former AFL superstars Troy Cook, Justin Longmuir & Luke Webster from the Fremantle Football Club will lead a 5 day Community Development Camp to the North West Province from February 12-16.
The Dockers trio will be supported by Fremantle’s Community Development staff, who will provide expert training in Umpiring, Coaching and Talent Identification whilst on tour.
A group of 30 footyWILD volunteers and staff from the North West will participate in a full day workshop, creating a wealth of knowledge that will be passed on to players and umpires alike, back in their respective communities.
Provincial Development Manager July Machethe is excited about the continued development opportunities offered by the Fremantle Dockers,
“The relationship we have with Fremantle is unique and the level of commitment shown by the club and its major partner NKWE Platinum has been outstanding. It was certainly no surprise to hear that Fremantle have once again committed to coming to the North West Province to run talent, umpiring and coaching clinics”, said Machethe
“You must see the love of Fremantle displayed by our volunteers, kids and staff... they just love being part of the ‘purple army’ which is growing in the North West every day” said July who proudly wears the Freo colours as often as possible.
In addition to the intensive workshop for North West staff and volunteers, the Dockers will help conduct footyWILD clinics and visit community based facilities where a different face from a foreign land can often make huge difference to a child’s life.
Child care worker from the Thakaneng Project in Ikageng Petrus Oliphant is looking forward to return of the giants from the AFL after last year’s visit to his centre which proved to be a great highlight “What a GREAT day it was!” said Petrus “We believe that the children truly benefited from this experience and we would like to thank Fremantle for the time they continue to invested in our less fortunate kids – we look forward to seeing the guys again this year”, said Petrus.
