LIONS REGAIN PRIDE

A highly skillful South Africa Lions team defeated Great Britain Bulldogs today by 36 points in a hard fought match at Royal Park.
Despite conceding several centimetres in height, the Lions' pace, flair and skill was simply too good for the improved Great Britain side.
The South Africans recaptured their match winning form which they desperately needed last match against USA.
Captain Beyanda Sobetwa (#23) was breathtaking at times and at his best when he weaved past three opponents to kick truly from 50 metres out.
The captain's goal helped lift his team after an arm wrestle opening term which the Lions led 8 to 1.
The Dogs fought hard to get their way back into the contest in the second half but couldn't match their opponents' speed and ball winning ability.
Tom Mercer (#41) gave his side a glimmer of hope when he kicked the Bulldogs' first goal of the match in the third term to reduce the margin to 23 points.
With Sean Walton and Matt Whiteley leading the way for GB, they had their chances to cause an upset but South Africa found another gear to clinch the 36-point victory.
Sobetwa (#23) was prominent for the Lions with two goals while Steven Matshane also battled hard all day.
